Duly qualified

How lucky we were. The usual suspects Cardinal Munk, OVH, Dodgy Condom, Lopsided Backside and yours truly teamed for an early morning opening drink at the Englische Reiter, renowned and wonderful beer place of its own opposite the Schweizerhaus and shortly before 11 a.m. it was on to the other side of the road into Viennas most famous Beergarden, yet again, still alive and very thirsty!

Peace in the neighbourhood

Luck had it that we could grab a table right next to the beercounter. That table was lovingly decorated with a tablecloth provided by Lopsided Backside and within very shortly Multiple Entry showed up. Our numbers were augmented by Victoria's Secret, St.Norman, OVH, Rowed Runner, and later on Prince of Barkness and Holy Roamin' Empress, both OVH, No Balls Prize, Just Robert from the Netherlands (and there is another certain Just Robert who happens to have a house adress that reads "Danube, stream kilometre 1.927,875" ( I swear this is true) and in the evening S. Energy with our house guest from Germany Just Martina came by for a glass of wine or two. All in all those opening- and closing days are a vivid example of Hash camaraderie and thirst for good beer that is never quenched.

The Moron pics should be available here in a pic folder that is still empty by the time I am writing this.

A Health to the Company

Certain traditions are being upheld chez le World's Worst and one such tradition is the gathering of likeminded drinkers at the opening and closing day ceremonies of the Schweizerhaus. The usual suspects, augmented by a surprise appearance of S*x Energy, Dodgy Condom, Lopsided Backside (right there from the beginning and many thanks for all the Halloween gear you brought along!) and MOM all had starting drinks at the Englische Reiter (another great beer place!) opposite the Schweizerhaus (before they open up their place) and punctually at 11 a.m. it was on over to our table.

Along came Nail Me, The Blessed Saint Norman, OVH together with Rowed Runner and even Morehair Richard von F-Kopf carried his Chopsticks onto the beery surroundings. A non Hashing friend Just Robert from the Netherlands, great photographer also stayed with and happily wrote me a few lines about his "heavy head" the next day. 'nuff written, here are a few pics. And the next opening on March 15 in 2019 will be on A Friday.

Happy New Beer

Some habits stay the same, at least for a bit. Opening and closing day of the Schweizerhaus - though that may change drastically from next year onwards as the Schweizerhaus has been completely ripped down and is being totally renovated - have become fixtures outside the Hashing year, but peacefully juxtaposed to the runs.
My Sisters Glowing K'unts initial idea was to set run far away from the Schweizerhaus somewhere in the 14th district and was persuaded by Joystick to start the run from the outskirts of the Prater at a favourite place of ours, the Knusperhäuschen at Rustenschacherallee in the 2nd district.

Cherchez les femmes

Me and family got to the Schweizerhaus at 10:00 exactly and by then there was already a decent crowd, with our friends from Prague, the Motovidlo Jazz Band. Family left after an our which was quite understandable if you're not into beer.
I am always amazed how quickly the time passes over the course of a few beers and when the Brass Combo Schürzenträger - our heros! - started to play everything was fine. The Hash crowd came along for an extended OnAfter of course. And then, to top it all first Lady Go Diver turned up for a short visit from the Hague and shortly after - dare I say it - MINUTEMAN made it all the way over from Tennessee to partake in the festivities. Dedication at its best, my friends. And it sure is always fine to see friends again.

On out, to the reopening naturally.

Try it on Steaks

Some sort of tactical drinking is required if want to survive an entire day in the Schweizerhaus or in any similar form of Beer Garden. Meaning, as an absolute regular costumer you are required to turn up on time (9:50 a.m. that is) and then slowly slip into the days routine which is to have a nice and relaxed time with people you like to be around with, have a bowl of soup as a basis or one of the houses specials, which of course is the STELZE in addition to the endless flowing beers.

Allow to add the fact of a little live Muzak and then try to not lose count of how many pints you have already consumed. I tried it repeatedly without success. Anyhow. Moosehead, an absolute first-timer onc losing day accompanied King Gook, Munk, yours truly and quite a large number of Hashing and related people through the day. Richard Kopf arrived minutes before closing time and I was told that his worthy contribution consisted of buying five beers and the next thing was that the beer counter was shout down. Until next year. Oh, to-day Hare King Ralph was also around at the Schweizerhaus (NATÜRLICH!) and ze Germanic way of overcoming a Hangover is SELBSTVERSTÄNDLICH to set a sucker of a run.

Which brings us straight to to-days special: "HALT ENDLICH DIE KLAPPE!!" sayeth the King to his poor doggie Vilja, then going on to spread some gibberish on how he got lost this morning, mysterious markings were being explaing such as false trail sign with a double X and one even with a quadruple one (I'm not referring to XXXX Beer from Oz here). Vell, OnOn down the hill for a kilometer or so only to find out a Double X sign, then back up to the carpark again. There find a pair of brandnew arrows pointing across the road, run on up the hill, after another huge check (and a pissing on trail stop) take off to the left and run another 1 1/2 k's downhill, just to find ... you know what.
Needless to say that it is on back to the carpark to find -> the brandnew set of Hash arrows pointing to the far end of the carpark and all the way UPHILL from there. Of course Fellow Hashers like Tickpleaser ("Hashblog? Useless info!") and Sperminator ("Hashblog? Civil servant with lots of time at hand?") were fast enough to even do a little jogging steep uphill. I somehow save my breath for this marvellous piece of information here and, having arrived on top of the hill on some kind of a meadow, the way was XXXX false trail meanng all the way back we came, this time for good and on home.
A decent time seemed to have been had by all, augmented by last Friday nite's Haloweenie party chez Squeeze Box Mama.
My personal conclusion for this entire weekend:

On Out
